A nIGHT OF WOLF-SCENT
Friday, November 13, Fischersund (Reykjavík, Iceland): FULL, THANK YOU! Hyldyr & Nornabrunnur present: Inspired by Robert Eggers’s upcoming film Werwulf, in theaters Christmas, we invite you to join us for a unique and intimate night at the beautiful Fischersund in Reykjavík, Iceland to celebrate the publication of Wulf, My Wulf, an anthology of wolf and werewolf folklore. This event features discussion from author Sjón, co-writer of the Werwulf script, folklorist Kári Pálsson, and archaeologist Giorgia Sottotetti of the National Museum of Iceland. Kári will be joined by researcher Þorsteinn Björnsson to perform the traditional Úlfhams rímur. Artist and researcher Emil Baur will present an illustration inspired by the rímur. A limited number of copies of Wulf, My Wulf will be available for purchase alongside prints of Emil's art. 18:30/6:30 PM. RSVP with Fischersund. Very limited space. This event is free.
A dark folklore Halloween
Friday, October 31, Noctavia Obscure (Denver, Colorado): Inspired by Robert Eggers’s upcoming film Werwulf, in theaters Christmas, join Hyldyr and downtown Denver’s Noctavia Obscure for a particularly wolven, folklore-infused Halloween celebration you will never forget. Speakers include scholar Mathias Nordvig (University of Colorado, Boulder) and folklorist Joseph S. Hopkins on wolf and werewolf folklore, Old Black Kettle will offer tin type sessions with a special themed backdrop, the Clove Coterie will be creating decadent themed pastries for purchase, including vegan and gluten-free options, and Salt and Memory will be offering chocolate truffles and infused herbal chocolates. And a dark folklore costume contest! 6:30 PM. $25 DOOR. SPACE VERY LIMITED.
A night of wulf-lore
Saturday, October 24, Hedgerow Herb Co (Portland, Oregon): SOLD OUT. Inspired by Robert Eggers’s upcoming film Werwulf, only in theaters Christmas, this unique event will feature an atmospheric DJ set by Hulder and Necreon, a discussion on wolves in Europe and the United States by ecologist and illustrator Anneke Wilder, and a conversation on werewolf folklore with publisher and researcher Joseph S. Hopkins. Ilana Hamilton will also perform the Old English poem Wulf and Eadwacer. Hedgerow Herb Co will offer themed libations throughout the event. Hopkins and Lauren E. Fountain, two editors of the upcoming Hyldyr publication Wulf, My Wulf (featuring an introduction by Robert Eggers), will be signing copies of the book on-site.
